What is generative engine optimization (GEO)?

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the practice of improving how generative engines select, summarize, and cite your brand inside synthesized answers. It is closely related to AEO and AI visibility: you optimize for extraction and trust, not only for classic search rankings.

AEO research & engineering

The Auditmii team builds AI visibility tooling for brands that need to be cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. We combine crawl engineering, structured data, and answer-engine research to turn audits into practical AEO fixes.

GEO still needs SEO foundations — crawlable pages, stable URLs, and useful content — but it emphasizes answer-first writing, entity consistency, structured data, and machine-readable summaries such as llms.txt.

Write openings that state the answer in plain language, keep product and company facts consistent across pages, and add FAQ schema only where you truly answer questions. Conflicting claims increase hallucination risk.

Help crawlers discover your best sources. Maintain sitemap.xml, allow relevant AI user-agents in robots.txt when appropriate, and publish an /agents map so specialized bots can inventory your content quickly.

Measure GEO with citation and mention rates on a representative prompt set. If engines ignore you after a refresh, audits reveal whether the blocker is technical discovery, thin content, or a stronger competitor narrative.

Learn how Auditmii supports generative engine optimization on the GEO page, and baseline your site with a free AEO audit before a large content sprint.

“AEO isn't just a technical upgrade — it's a shift in how digital authority gets established and maintained.”
